The School of Mind offers Workshops in Mindfulness, Self-hypnosis, Self-awareness and one-to-one Hypnotherapy Services. The School was established in 2016 by the Author, Meditation Instructor and Therapist, Philip Whittingham.
Our modern world is becoming increasingly stressful, and as such, the necessity for skills in managing our psychological well-being, ever more important. It was through recognition of this need, that Philip decided to create The School of Mind, as governed by The Freedman College.

One Day Mindfulness Workshop (Small Group)
A modern and unique step by step process, gently awarding you the necessary skills and techniques, for successful daily meditation, leading to everyday mindfulness
It is now well understood how increased awareness improves the control we have over our minds, and by consequence, our everyday lives. From reducing stress, to releasing many of the worries and inhibitions modern day life can bring, gaining skills in meditation and mindfulness, securely places us on the correct path, toward becoming the gatekeepers of our minds, and the directors of our lives.
Even though we can trace much of our understandings of meditation back into the distant past, they remain especially relevant, today. When we combine these ancient ways with modern day methods – built on recent understandings of the mind – we have a powerful formula for change.
Philip closely adheres to a number of Buddhist beliefs and philosophies, yet believes the art of meditation, can never be tied to any specific religion. He remains passionate about imparting the knowledge and wisdom he has gained from over twenty years of study.
One Day Self-hypnosis Workshop (Small Group)
A modern and unique step by step process, gently awarding you the necessary skills and techniques, for achieving and utilising a self-induced, hypnotic trance
During a meditative state, we seek to raise our conscious awareness, so we may better understand the nature of our thoughts. Hypnosis differs in some respects to this.
Even though the word hypnosis originates from the Greek word hupnos, meaning sleep, we must not confuse it as such. Whilst ‘under’ hypnosis, we are in fact wide awake. All that has altered is our state of mind.
This altered state concerns the bypassing of consciousness, so we may open the mind sufficiently, to gain access to our unconscious processing. It is often our unconscious beliefs and understandings, that directly conflict, with our conscious desires. As such, learning the skill of self-hypnosis, awards us the ability to directly influence and alter those things that unconsciously hold us back.

One Day Self-awareness Workshop
Raised self-awareness has to be one of the most powerful means of improving the quality of our lives. In real terms, the way in which this is achieved, is quite simple. The tools and information required, in order to begin the process of raising self-awareness, can be understood surprisingly quickly.
Living a life, with all the unnecessary suffering and anxiety removed, is achieved when we better understand ourselves and how our minds work. Once we see clearly, the type of mechanisms we employ to manifest our own obstacles, the less likely it is, they will arise in the first place.
Contentment, mixed with a healthy appreciation of life and all it can offer, is something also awarded through raised self-awareness. It is true to say, once we have learnt how to be contented, our achievements, large or small, are far better appreciated.
