Mindful simply means aware. We can absorb the most from life through being mindful. As a result of keeping the mind present-focused we better engage with our activities and, when required, we are able to fully acknowledging the presence of those around us.

Mindfully immersing ourselves in our present moment activities, to the exclusion of all other things, reduces stress. Mindfulness increases the pleasure we receive from pleasant activities and removes much of the drudgery or discomfort from the mundane.
The mundane, when conducted mindfully, can become tasks we neither like nor dislike. We just do it and fully experience it. We can just be. Once we remove any associated negative thoughts and feelings from our activities, through being increasingly mindful, we naturally improve the general quality of our lives.
